Family History

William Pearce was the son of Walter James Pearce and Caroline Fowler who married in the Chard registration district Somerset in 1879. Their children included: William (b.1881), Eva (b.1884), Walter (b.1886), Edward (b.188) and Rosa (b.1990). Caroline already had a child, Maria Fowler (b.1876/d.1881), before she married Walter James Pearce. The Pearce family lived at: Silver Street, Chard [C.1881]; 14 Lake Yard, Island Street, Nottingham [C.1891]; 93 Kennington Road, Radford [C.1901, C.1911 & CWGC]. Walter James Pearce who was a stationary engine driver in 1901, appears to have died at Nottingham aged 73, in 1933. His widow, Caroline also died in Nottingham, aged 87, in 1939.

Military History

He enlisted at Mansfield. Died of his wounds. However his burial site was lost so his name was added to the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
