Tom Archibald Ferrill

He was known as 'Archie'.He was the son of George and Mary Ferrill who at the time of the 1891 and 1901 census lived at 1 Warner Street, Old Radford, Nottingham. By 1911 they were living at 270 Alfreton Road although they later lived at the Midland Hotel, Radford. According to the 1911 census, George and Mary had had eight children all of whom had survived, but only seven were named in the three census 1891-1911: Edgar, who was 20 in 1901 and not in the household at the time of the 1911 census, and in the household in 1911, Ada (28), Mabel (27), John (25), Harold George (19), 'Archibald Tom' (17) and George Leslie (10). Marriage notice published 24th August 1915 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “FERRILL – ROBINSON. – On the 21st inst., at All Saints' by the Rev. Mr. Clark, Coy.-Qr.-Mas.-Sgt. T. A. Ferrill, so of Geo. Ferrill, to Ethel Alice, daughter of M. B. Robinson.” Archibald married Ethel Alice Robinson on 21st August 1915, and at the time of his death they were living at 79 Harley Road. However, the medal roll gives his widow's address as 16 Trinity Avenue, Lenton. It does not seem that there were any children of the marriage; it is likely that Ethel remarried in 1922 to Thomas W Allen.
