Father: James Wolfe, born in 1869 in Nottingham, working as a corporation sanitary labourer. and later a lace warehouseman Mother: Clara Wolfe, born in 1868 at Nottingham. Brothers: James, born in 1891 in Nottingham and Edwin, born in 1902 in Nottingham.. Sisters: Gertrude, born in 1889 in Nottingham, Clara, born in 1897 in Nottingham, Mabel, born in 1899 also in Nottingham and Eveline,born in 1908 in Nottingham. When she became a widow Clara Wolfe worked as a washerwoman to help support the family. They lived at 5 Hamden Place, Nottingham before moving to 10 Lindum Grove, Meadow Lane, Nottingham.
Pte. Wolfe following training was drafted to France. He was wounded and captured during fighting in 1918. He was taken to a prisoner of war camp, but died of his wounds on 22/06/1918. He was buried at Niederzwehren Cemetery in Germany.
Death notice published 17th August 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “WOLFE. – Died June 22nd of wounds, while a prisoner in German hands, Harold, dearly beloved son of Mrs. Clara Wolfe, Lindum-grove, Meadow-lane. Too far away thy grave to see, but not too far to think of thee. – From mother, brother and sisters at home, and brother Jim and Harold [?] in France, also his fiancee Kate.” In memoriam published 23rd June 1919 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “WOLFE. – In loving memory of my dear son, Pte. H. Wolfe, died of wounds in Germany, June 22nd, 1918, Leicester Regt. Gone from our home, but not from our hearts. Christ will link the broken chain close when we meet again. – From mother, sisters, and brothers. “WOLFE. – In loving memory of Pte. H.
