Father: Charles William Wainwright, born in 1869 at Long Eaton, Derbyshire, and working as a lace warehouseman. Penelope Wainwright, born in 1863 at Scawby, Lincolnshire. Brother: Charles Gilbert, born in 1894 in Nottingham. Sisters: Sarah Doris Mary Ada, born in 1904 in Nottingham and Alice Mabel, born in 1906 in Nottingham. The family lived at 16 Preston Terrace, Nottingham before moving to 9 Port Arthur Road, Sneinton, Nottingham.

Military History

Pte. Wainwright was called up for service and following training he was drafted to France. The battalion was involved in fighting in the Chemin des Dames area after the German break through, and helped hold the line. Pte. Wainwright died on 12/06/1918 and was buried at Courmas British Cemetery.
