Father:John Parfitt, born in 1865 at Sanndown, Hampshire,working as a stock labourer. Mother: Edith Parfitt, born in 1869 at Salisbury, Wiltshire. Sisters:Ada, born in 1890, Annie, born in 1892, Lotte, born in 1895, working as a cotton winder and Alice, born in 1897. All the children were born in Salisbury. Christopher Lawson was the only son. The family lived at 20 Norman Road Newhaven, East Sussex. In 1911 they lived at 30 Derwent Street and later 4 Lammas Terrace (both Meadows Nottingham).
Lawson, after 6 years service, had been placed on the Army Special Reserve, and continued to train recruits with the Sherwood Foresters during 1913. He was mobilised on 05/08/1914 and on 26/11/1914 was appointed paid lance corporal. He was posted to France on 31/12/1914. He was sent home on 17/03/1915 suffering from frostbite. He returned to France, but on 10/06/1916 he suffered a gunshot would to the back and was sent back to England and the 1st Eastern General Hospital, Cambridge.He was appointed acting corporal on 22/09/1916. He returned to France on 31/01/1917 and was posted to 17th Battalion Welbeck Rangers. On 06/04/1917 he was deprived of his rank for having a dirty rifle. The battalion served in the Ypres Salient during June 1917 and it was there that he was killed in action. He was buried at Vlamertinghe New Military Cemetery.
