Known as Ted, his full name was Edward Randolph Mills. However this was recorded as Ronald, probably on enlistment and then used on subsequent records and memorials. He was the son of Edward Mills, born in 1866 in Nottingham, working as a plasterer. His mother Minnie Mills was born in 1873 at Rotherham Yorkshire. He was the oldest of 12 siblings.
Called up in Spring of 1918 aged 19, he formerly served with Northumberland Fusiliers ( 65979). He was killed near Beaufort-en-Santerre by machine gun fire as he attacked nearby woods.
