Family History

William Henry Holmes was born in 1882. He was married in July 1905 to Annie Holmes and they had one daughter, Ivy Mabel, born 1908 in Nottingham. The family lived at 9 Norfolk Terrace Flewitt Street Nottingham before moving to 70 St Stephen's Road Sneinton, Nottingham. William's parents were living at 76 Lamcote Street Meadows Nottingham, at the time of their son's death.

Military History

Holmes volunteered for service and following training he was drafted to France, arriving on 28/02/1915, attached 2nd Army Grenade School He was drowned whilst on active service on 26/06/1917. Hazebrouck Communal Cemetery Grave Reference: II D 6
