George Hawley

George was born in 1879 at Nottingham and was the son of William a plasterer and the late Mary Hawley née Kelsall of 2 Clarence Terrace, Clarence Street, Nottingham. His father William was born in 1845 at Nottingham, his mother Mary Kelsall was born in 1846 also in Nottingham, they were married in 1865 at Nottingham, they went on to have 11 children, sadly 5 were to die in infancy or early childhood, their children were Phoebe b1865, Eliza b1868, Harriett b1872, George b1879, Gertrude b1881, Mary b1882, Ethel b1887 and Louie b1890 all were born in Nottingham. George married Hannah Gertrude Goodacre (born 7th April 1880) in 1899 at Nottingham they had the following children Gertrude born 1900, George born 9th May 1903 and William born 15th August 1909, they lived at 141 Gordon Road Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at 141 Gordon Road, Nottingham and are shown as George Hawley 32 yrs a plasterer, he is living with his wife Gertrude 30 yrs and their children, Gertrude 11 yrs a scholar, George 7 yrs and William 1 year of age. In the same 1911 census his parents were living at 2 Clarence Terrace, Clarence Street, Nottingham and were shown as George 66 yrs a plasterer, he is living with his wife Mary 65 yrs and their daughter Louie 21 yrs a lace trimmer. Following George's death his widow Hannah was awarded a pension of 22 shillings and 11 pence a week which commenced on 4th February 1918.
