Reuben Harry Fisher (known as Harry) was born in 1897 at Aton, Birmingham and was the son of Jesse a cabinet maker and Ada Fisher née Benner of 16, Livingstone St., Nottingham. His father Jesse was born in 1871 at Nottingham, his mother Ada Benner was born in 1872 also in Nottingham, they were married in 1894 at Nottingham they had 3 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood, their surviving children were Harry b1897 Aston and James b1899 also at Aston In the 1911 census the family are living at 81 St Matthias Street, Nottingham and are shown as Ada 38 yrs she is shown as being married and a silk slip winder, she is living with her two sons Harry 13 yrs an apprentice cabinet maker and James 12 yrs a scholar

Military History

Private Reuben Harry Fisher enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 17th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was killed in action on 3rd September 1916, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
