Family History

William Harry Daykin was born in 1894 at Nottingham and was the son of Robert a sanitary labourer and Catherine Daykin née Billings of 16 Abbott Street, Gordon Road, Blue Bell Hill, Nottingham. His father Robert was born in 1873 at Nottingham and his mother Catherine Billings was born 1873 also at Nottingham, they were married in 1890 in Nottingham and went on to have the following children, William b1894, May b1896, Violet b1907 and Albert b1910, all were born in Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at 3 Court Street, Radford, Nottingham and are shown as Robert 38 yrs a sanitary labourer, he is living with his wife Kate 38 yrs and their children, William 17 yrs a tanner skin labourer, May 15 yrs Violet 4 yrs and Albert 1 year of age.

Military History

Private William Harry Daykin enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 9th battalion King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, he landed in France on 11th September 1915. He died of wounds a gun shot wound to the head on 26th January 1916, he is buried at Bailleul Communal Cmy Extension (Nord)
