Family History

Arthur Boaden was born in 1889 at Lenton and was the son of William a lace maker and Hannah Boaden née Weston of 84 Hartley Road, Nottingham. His father William Boaden was born in 1864 at Barnstable, his mother Hannah Weston was born in 1858 at Nottingham, she died in 1912 aged 54 yrs , they were married in 1883 at Nottingham , Hannah brought a child to the marriage Ernest b1880, they went on to have the following children, Mary b1883, William Thomas b1887, Arthur b1889 and Katie b1891 all were born in Nottingham. In the 1911 census his family is living at 84 Hartley Road, Nottingham and aree shown as William 46 yrs a lace maker, he is living with his wife Hannah 53 yrs and their children, William Thomas 24 yrs a threader, Arthur 22 yrs a lace maker and Katie 20 yrs a lace jennier. Arthur married his wife Mary Eliza Lomas (born 31st March 1887 ) they lived at 34 Young Street, Nottingham, they went on to have a daughter Dorothy May born 23rd February 1914. Following his death his widow Mary Eliza was awarded a pension of 18 shillings and 9 pence a week which commenced on 10th December 1917, this was increased to 25 shillings and 9 pence a week commencing 14th October 1918.

Private Arthur Boaden enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 1/7th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was killed in action on 15th May 1917 and is buried at Maroc British Cemetery Grave Reference: II P 4d at
