Richard George Alfred Redman was born in 1880 at Peckham and was the only son of George a butcher and Elizabeth Ann Redman née Elen of 26 Colville Street, Nottingham. George was born in 1853 at Lambeth, Elizabeth Ann Elen was born in 1853 at Whitechapel, married on 9th February 1880 at St Peters Church, Walworth. Richard George Alfred married his wife Ella Amy Still on 15th June 1910 at Streatham, they had a daughter Ella in 1911. In 1911 the family were living at 20 Sydenham Road, Sydenham, London, George is 58 yrs and a butcher, he is living with his wife Elizabeth and their son Richard George Alfred 31 yrs a butcher and his wife Ella Amy 31 yrs and their granddaughter Ella days old

Military History

Private Richard George Alfred Redman enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 13th Hussars, died (drowned at sea) on 15th April 1917 at Mesopotamia and is commemorated on the Chatby memorial, Egypt.
