Family History

George Middleton was born in 1887 at Nottingham the son of Charles a grocery manager and Jane Ellen Middleton née Daniels of 19 Cope Street, Nottingham. Charles was born in 1848 at Lincoln, Jane Ellen Daniels was born in 1854 at York, they were married in 1874 at St Pauls Church, Hull, they went on to have 11 children, sadly 4 were to die in infancy or early childhood. In 1911 they lived at 19 Cope Street Hyson Green Nottingham Charles 63 yrs is a grocery manager and George 24 is a lace warehouseman

Military History

Pte. George Middleton, enlisted at Nottingham, he served with 2nd Battalion King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, was killed in action 12th January 1917 and is buried in Euston Road Cemetery, Colincamps.

In memoriam published 10th January 1920 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “MIDDLETON. – In loving memory of our dearly beloved son, Pte. Geo.
