Family History

Charles Henry Farr was born in 1897 the son of the late Joshua Henry Farr a stonemason and Elizabeth Farr née Dudley of 28 Sherwin Street, Nottingham. Joshua Henry (Henry) was born in 1852 at Leominster, Herefordshire, he died in 1913 at Nottingham aged 61 yrs, Elizabeth Dudley was born in 1853 at Grantham, they were married in 1873 at Grantham they went on to have 10 children, sadly 2 died in infancy or early childhood. In 1911 the family are living at 28 Sherwin Street, Nottingham, Charles Henry is 14 yrs of age and an apprentice Grocer

Military History

Sergeant Charles Henry Farr enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 11th battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps. He landed in France on 21st July 1915 and died of wounds on 20th September 1917 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial
