Family History

William was born in 1892 in Nottingham and was the son of Hedley Victor a train guard and Mary Emma Scothon, he had two siblings Hedley Victor and Margaret. He was husband of Mabel Scothon, of 26, Westwood Rd., Sneinton, Nottingham. In the 1911 census he and his family are living at 23 Woodward Street, Sneinton , he is 19 years of age and an accounts clerk , he is the only child living at the address with his parents on this date.

Military History

William enlisted in Nottingham , he first served with service number 15695 in the Army Cyclist Corps , he later transferred to the King's Liverpool Regiment, he was killed in action on 31st July 1917 and is buried in Zantvoorde British Cemetery in Belgium.
