Edwin Harry John Wilson known as 'Billy' was born in 1899 at Nottingham and was the son of Harry a general labourer and Sarah Ann Wilson née Holland of 6 Warren Court, Old Street, Nottingham. His father Harry was born in 1872 at Louth, Lincolnshire, his mother Sarah Ann Holland was born in 1866 at Grantham, Lincolnshire, they were married on 18th July 1898 at the Nottingham Registrat office, Sarah brough a daughter to their marriage Nellie Holland born 1895 at Nottingham, then went on to have two children Ann Harriett Wilson b1899 and Edwin Harry John Wilson b1900 both were born in Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at 6 Warren Court Old Street St Ann's Nottingham and are shown as Harry 39 yrs a general labourer, he is living with his wife Sarah Ann 45 yrs a lace hand and their children, Edwin Harry John 11 yrs a scholar, Ann Harriett 12 yrs a scholar and Nellie Holland 16 yrs (step daughter) lace dresser

Military History

Private Edwin Harry John Wilson enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 17th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he died of disease on 2nd May 1917 at the Derby Military Hospital and is buried in the Nottingham General Cemetery
