Family History

David Weston was born on the 18th September 1872 at Loughborough he was the son of John Weston and Harriett Ragsdale. David married his wife Annie Wood, (born 18th September 1872) they were married on the 3rd August 1891 at St Albans Church, Nottingham. They went on to have the following children, David Henry b1895 Carlton, Gertrude b1897 Carlton, William born 29th February 1902, Nottingham, Lily born 26th August 1903, Nottingham, Albert born 24th November 1905 Nottingham and George born 5th February 1910. The family also lived at 2, Thorney Wood Place, Sneinton Rd., Nottingham and 5 Manvers Street, Netherfield, Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at 1 Bombay Street, St Ann's Well Road, Nottingham and are shown as David 40 yrs a brickyard labourer, he is living with his wife Annie 38 yrs and their children David Henry 16 yrs a butchers errand boy Gertude 14 yrs a hosiery chevenor, William 10 yrs a scholar, Lily 7 yrs a scholar, Albert 5 yrs and George 1 year of age. Following his death his widow Annie was living at 74 Peashill Road, Nottingham, she was awarded a pension of 30 shillings and 10 pence which commenced on 26th July 1918.

Military History

Private David Weston enlisted at Nottingham on 19th July 1915 he gave his age as 36 yrs and 11 months,(he was actually 43 yrs old) he was living at 5 Manvers Street, Netherfield, he was a town labourer and his next of kin was his wife Annie of the same address. Posted to 3rd (Reserve) Battalion Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment, he transferred to 2/8th Battalion Royal Scots on 15th April 1916. After a period of leave in September 1916, he was attached to the Sherwood Foresters' depot on 18th November 1916. He was discharged as unfit for further service on 16th May 1918 and died of phthisis on 22nd July 1918. Buried in Nottingham General Cemetery, where he is commemorated on the screen wall,
