Member of 2nd Nottingham Company Boys' Brigade (Dakeyne Street Lads' Club). At the time of the 1911 census he was a threader to a lacemaker.

Family history

Joseph Albert Musson was born in 1894 at Nottingham, he was the son of Joseph a bricklayer and Mary Musson nee Lee of 46, Walker St., Sneinton, Nottingham .

His father Joseph was born in 1858 at North Collingham, his mother Mary Ann Lee was born in 1860 in Nottingham, they were married in 1884 at Nottingham their marriage is recorded in the Nottingham Registration district, they went on to have 8 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood.

In the 1911 census: Joseph 53 yrs a bricklayer and Mary Ann Musson 51 yrs were living at 46 Walker Street with their children, Charles (24) a bricklayer, William Henry (22) a warehouse clerk, Joseph Albert (17) a threader in a lace makers, Claude (14), a printers errand boy Horace (11) a scholar and Leonard Ernest (9) a scholar.

Military history

Rifleman Joseph Albert Musson enlisted in Nottingham and served with the 2nd battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps. He went out to France on 19th May 1915 and was killed in action on 25th September 1915, he has no known grave , his name is commemorated on the Loos Memorial.
