Family history

Edward Anderson was born in 1898 at Nottingham, he was the son of William a lace dressr and Emily Anderson née Tedd .

His father William was born in 1869 at Nottingham, his mother Emily Tedd was born in 1863 at Bedworth, Warwickshire, they were married in 1895 at Nottingham they had a daughter Clara Annie born 1910.

In the 1911 census the family were living at 47 Virginia Street, Nottingham (off Bath Street). William (42) was a lace dresser and he and Emily (46) had been married for 17 years; they had two children, Edward, aged 13 (b. 1898) and Clara Annie, aged 1.

Military history

Corporal Edward Anderson enlisted in the Territorial Force some time between 28 April and 11 May 1914. He served in France from 25 February 1915 and was killed in action during the attack on Gommecourt. He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. Awarded 1914/15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal.
