Charles Edgar Welbourne was born in 1900 at Lenton, he was the son of William a surgeons assistant and his first wife Annie Elizabet Welbourne and the brother of Winifred and Kenneth Welbourn and Victor Samuel of 20, Chandos St., Nottingham
His father William was born in 1865 at Barrowby, Lincolnshire, his mother Annie Elizabeth was born in 1862 at Sheffield, she died in 1908 at Nottingham aged 46 yrs, they were married to 1889 they had 3 children, Winifred b1889, Kenneth b1891, Charles Edgar b1900 and Victor Samuel b1904
His father went on to marry Mary Ellen Cleaver (born 1884 Bascot, Warwickshire) ) they were married on 18th December 1909 at St Thomas church, Nottingham.
In the 1911 census the family are living at Tennyson House, Fitzwilliam Street, Mablethorpe William 46 yrs is a lodging house keeper, he is living with his second wife Mary Ellen 27 yrs and his sons Charles Edgar 11 yrs a scholar and Victor Samuel 7 yrs a scholar.
Private Charles Edgar Welbourne enlisted at Bilston, Staffordshire whilst residing at Nottingham, he served with the 1/7th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was killed in action on 16th April 1918, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial Panel 7
