Thomas Edward Watts was born in 1896 at Lenton, he was baptised on 9th November 1900 at Lenton Priory Church he was the son of Samuel a bricklayers labourer and Eliza Watts née Oswin and the brother of Samuel Alfred, John Henry, Rebecca, James, Theresa and William Henry Watts.
His father Samuel was born in 1852 at Notingham his mother Eliza Oswin was born in 1864 at Nottingham, they were married in 1883 at Nottingham, they had 7 children.
In the 1911 census the family lived at 6 Head Street New Lenton Nottingham, Samuel 59 yrs is a bricklayers labourer he is living with his wife Eliza 47 yrs and their children, James 17 yrs a cotten doubler, Thomas Edward 15 yrs a general labourer, Theresa 13 yrs a scholar and William Henry 6 yrs of age.
Private Thomas Edward Watts, enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Lenton, he served with the 1/5th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was killed in action on 19th June 1918, he is buried at Fouquieres Churchyard Extension Grave Reference: III F 2
