John Isaac Kirk was born in 1885 at Old Radford, he was the son of John Isaac a lace curtain twisthand and Sally Kirk née Asher and the brother of Edwin and Florence Rose Kirk.
His father John Isaac was born in 1852 his mother Sally Asher was born in 1853 both were born in Nottingham they were married in 1873 at Radford, they went on to have 6 children.
In 1911 the family lived at 25 Tyne Street Park Road New Lenton Nottingham, John Isaac 59 yrs is a lace curtain twisthand, he is living with his wife Sally 58 yrs and their children, Edwin 33 yrs a dyers labourer, Joseph Isaac 26 yrs an art can worker and Florence 24 yrs of age.
Joseph Isaac married Caroline Elisa Pulley (born 24th January 1887) at Nottingham on 2nd june 1907 at St George Church, Nottingham they went on to have a daughter Carrie born 8th October 1907 and lived at 4 Edwards Place, Gadd Street, Hyson Green, Nottingham.
Commencing 25th October 1915 his widow was awarded a pension of 15 shilligs a week.
His widow emigrated to Canada, re-married and lived in Saskatchewan.
Private Joseph Isaac Kirk enlisted on 9th August 1912 at Nottingham, giving his age as 27 yrs and 4 months, he was a baket maker. He was posted to the Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was killed in action on 13th March 1915 his name is commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial Panel 26 &27
