William Henry Davis was born in 1887 at Nottingham, he was the son of John Davis born 1865 and Eliza Davis née Hardy born in Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire.
William Henry Davis married Elizabeth Leavesley (later Moore) born 22nd May 1889 they were married on 12th December 12th December 1908 at Lenton Priory Church, Lenton. William is 21 yrs a bachelor and a coal dealer, living at 5 Cloister Square Old Lenton, his father John Davis is a sawyer, Elizabeth Leavesley 20 yrs is a spinster of 67 Tyne Street, her father George Leavesley is a fitter.
They had two children, George William born 11th May 1909 and Elsie Elizabeth born 22nd May 1912,
In the 1911 census the family are living at 3 Garden Place, Park Street, New Lenton, William Henry 23 yrs is a general labourer he is living withvhisvwife Elizabeth 21 yrs and their son George 2 yrs of age.
Commencing 10th April 1916 his widow was awarded a pension of 18 shiilings and 6 pence a week
His widow went on to marry on 24th April 1916 to William Edwin Moore, of the 3/5th battalion Leicestershire Regiment.
She lived at 46 Highfields Road, Hinckley, Leicestershire.
Private William Henry Davis enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 11th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he died of wounds on 25th September 1915, aged 28, at the 2nd London Casualty Clearing Station, Merville, France.he is buried at Merville Communal Cemetery Grave Reference: 4 E 5
