Alfred Wallace was born in 1893 at Lenton, Nottingham, he was the son of Andrew a lace card puncher and Ann Cutts née Tyers and the brother of Eliza, Ada, Florence, Annie and Albert Henry Cutts.
His fater Andrew was born in 1856 at Radford, his mother Ann Tyers was born in 1857 at Aspley, they were married in 1876 at Radford, they went on to have 9 children, sadly 1 was to die in infancy or early childhood.
In 1911 they lived at 47 Miall Street Radford Nottingham, .Andrew Cutts 55 yrs is a lace card puncher, he is living wit his wife Ann 54 yrs they are living with their children, Eliza 32 yrs a cotton winder, Ada 28 yrs a hosiery worker, Florence 22 yrs a hosiery maker up, Annie 17 yrs a hosiery mender, Alfred Wallace 13 yrs a scholar, Albert Henry 19 yrs a cycle maker.
Private Alfred Wallace Cutts enlisted at Nottingham, he initially served with the service number 17489 in the Sherwood Foresters Regiment, later transfering to the 10th battalion Lincolnshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 1st July 1916 the first day of the battle of the Somme, he is buried at Ovillers Military Cemetery, France
