Edward Creswell was born in 1880 at Radford, he was the son of Edward a dispensing doctoer and Eliza Cresswell née Osborne and the brother of Charlotte Gertrude and Beatrice Louisa Cresswell. of 64 Lenton Boulevard Nottingham.
His father Edward Walter was born in 1856 at Derby, his mother Eliza Osborne was born in 1853 at Radford, they were married on 4th April 1878 at Christ Church, Radford, they had 3 chidren,
In the 1911 census the family are living at 354 Lenton Boulevard,Nottingham, Edward Walter 54 yrs a dispensing doctor is living with his wife Eliza 55 yrs a dress maker and their children, Edward 31 yrs a draper, Charlotte 28 yrs a dress makers assistant and Beatrice Louisa 24 yrs a hosiery worker.
Private Edward Creswell enlisted on 1st December 1915. at Nottingham he served with the 1/7th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he went to France on 29th March 1916 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, aged 37, in the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
