Frederick William Beighton was born in 1896 at Nottingham, he was the son of Robert a coal miner and Ann Maria Beighton née Johnson of 31 Tyre Street, New Lenton.
His father Robert was born in 1866 his mother Ann Maria Johnson was born in 1868 both were born in Nottingham, they were married on 25th December 1887 at Lenton Priory Church, they went on to have 4 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood.
In the 1911 census the family were living at 1 Garden Place Park, New Lenton, Robert 45 yrs is a coal miner he is living with his wife Ann Maria 43 yrs and their son Fred 16 yrs a leather worker, also living with them is his father’s mother in law Elizabeth Johnson 79 yrs.
Private Frederick William Beighton enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Beeston, he served with the 1/7th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he died on 16th February 1917 and is buried at St. Amand British Cemetery, France. Plot 1. Row C. Grave 9.
