Private 5107 Herbert Allsopp of the 4th battalion Sherwood Foreters Regiment, has a surving army enlistment record, which stated he enlisted on 27th August 1916 at Nottingham, he gave a false age of 17 yrs and 130 days he was a coal miner ganger, he was posted to the 4th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was posted to the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force on 28th August 1915, he served in Galipoli until 3rd January 1916 and returned to England on 4th January 1916. He was discharged from the Army on 2nd June 1916 ' Having made a mis statement as to his age upon his enlstment' his age at this time was 22 yrs and 304 days, his discharge address was Wesley Street Ossett, Yorkshire.
