George Fairholm was born in 1892 at Lenton, he was the son of Ernest William a wheelwright and Hannah Fairholm néé Morgan and the brother of Emma, May, Harold, Elsie and Wallace Fairholm of Lenton, Nottingham.
His father Ernest William was born in 1862 at Southwell, Nottinghamshire, his mother Hannah Morgan was born in 1862 at Lenton, they were married on 29th October 1881 at Lenton Priory Church, they went on to have 11 chidren.
In the 1911 census the family lived at 9 Alderney Street Grove Road Lenton Nottingham, Ernest William 49 yrs is a wheelwright he is living with his wife Hannah 49 yrs and their children, Emma 29 yrs an upholsterer, Geoge 19 yrs as assistant wheelwrght, May 16 yrs a mattress maker, Harold 13 yrs Ellen 12 yrs and Wallace 10 yrs of age.
Lance Corporal George Fairholm enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 23rd battalion (Tyneside Scottish) Northumberland Fusiliers, he died on 8th April 1918, he is buried at La Grand Beaumart British Cemetery Steenwerck Grave Reference: 2 H 18
