George Henry Samuel Cox was born in 1886 at Nottingham,
He was the husband of Florence Ethel Chamberlain (born 23rd June 1886 Nottingham) and the father of Grenville Chamberlain Cox born 28th October 1907 and Florence Ivy born 24th July 1914, they lived at 9 Preston Strret, New Lenton.
In the 1911 census the family lived at 11 Prwston Street Lenton Nottingham George Henry Cox 26 yrs a brass bobbin winder in the lace trade he is living with his wife Florence Ethel 27 yrs yrs and Grenville Chamberlain Cox 3 yrs of age.
Commencing 2nd June 1919 his widow was awarded a pension of 25 shillings and 5 pence a week.
Acting Lance Corporal George Henry Samuel Cox enlisted at Nottingham, he initially served with the service number 15 in the Army Cyclist Corps, later transferring to the 1st/4th battalion Leicestershire Regiment, he was killed in action on 17th October 1918, he is buried at Busigny Communal Cemetery Extension, Nord, France 4.D.22
