Family history

Ernest Comery was born 9n 1893 at Nottingham, he was the son of Harry a carriage hand and Mary Comery née Wells and the brother of Beatrice, Elsie, Alfred, William and Doris Comery.

His father Harry was born in 1868, his mother Mary Wells was born in 1869 both were born in Nottingham, they were married on 12th Mary 1887 at St Stephens Church, Nottingham they went on to have 11 chidren, sadly however 4 died in infancy or eary childhood.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 15 Park Street New Lenton Nottingham Harry 43 years is a carriage hand he is living with his wife Mary 42 yrs and their children, Ernest 18 yrs a carriage hand, Beatrice 16 yrs a lace hand, Elsie 12 yrs, Alfred 10 yrs, William 6 yrs and Doris 3 years of age.

Military history

Corporal Ernest Comery enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 16th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was killed in action on 9th June 1917 and is buried at Vlamertinghe New Military Cemetery West Vlaanderen Belgium Grave Reference: 1.A.15

Extra information

Ernest's father Harry Comery attested 30/8/1915 aged 44 and served (T4/145859) with the Army Service Corps. He died in service during 1921 and Mary was awarded a weekly pension of 9/7d (Harry Comery's Army Service Record).
