George Henry Casterton was born in 1895 at Arold, he was the son of George a frame work knitter and Ada Casterton and the brother of Alfred, Mabel Lily, Florence May, Isiaih, Clara and Ernest Wilfred Casterton.
His father George was born in 1865 at Arnold, his mother Ada was born in 1872 at Nottingham, they were married C1890 they went on to have 8 children.
In the 1911 census the family lived at they lived at High Street Avenue Arnold Nottingham George Casterton 46 yrs is a frame work knitter he is living with his wife Ada 39 yrs and their children, Alfred 20 yrs a hosiery hand, Elizabeth Ann 19 yrs a hosiery hand runner on, George Henry 16 yrs a hosiery hand, Mabel lily 14 yrs a scholar, Florence May 12 yrs a scholar, Isiah 9 yrs a scholar, Clara 7 yrs a scholar and Ernest Wilfred 4 yrs of age.
George married Alice Fletcher in 1916 at Nottingham, they lived at Grange Farm, Dunkirk, Nottingham.
Lance Corporal George Herbert Casterton enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 2nd battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment he died of wounds 10th May 1918.
