Albert Summers was born in 1879 at Nottingham, he was the son of the late John a night watchman and the late Prudence Summers née Trott.
His father John was born in 1840 at Basford, he died in 1903 at Nottingham, he was 63 yrs old, his mother Prudence Trott was born in 1838 at Chard Somerset, she died in 1907 at Nottingham she was 69 yrs of age, they were married on 25th May 1863 at St Leodegarius Church, Basford, Nottingham, they went on to have 5 children, Fred b1870, Florence b1873, Walter b1876, Albert b1879 and George b1884.
Albert was the husband of Mabel Mary Levers (born 26th March 1881 ) they were married in 1901 at Nottingham, they lived at 37, Brighton St., Nottingham they had the following children, Albert born 21st September 1903, Flora Mabel born 21st April 1910, Edna born 16th February 1912 and Evelyn born 12th November 1915.
In the 1911 census the family are living at 40 Chard Street, Basford, Nottingham, Albert 31 yrs is a levers lace maker, he is living with his wife Mabel 30 yrs and their children, Albert 7 yrs and Flora 11 months old.
Commencing 28th May 1917 his widow was awarded a pension of 28 shillings and 9 pence a week, at this date she was living at 79 Monsall Strret, Basford, Nottingham.
Private Albert Summers enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Basford, he served with the 17th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was killed in action on 3rd September 1916, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
