Alfred Jon Brien was born in 1887 in Chelsea, he was the son of Harry an electrician and Martha Brien née White and the brother of Daisy and Albert Brien.

His father Harry was born in 1859 at Fulham, his motherMartha White was born in 1857 at Saperton, Gloucestershire, they were married on 5th August 1882 at St Marys Church, Southwark. they had 4 children.

In 1901, they lived in London.

In 1911, Harry and Martha lived at The Kennels, Serlby Bawtry, Styrrup, Nottinghamshire, England. Harry was an electrician aged 52 yrs Martha 54 years.
