Family history

Albert Mason was born at Misterton in 1899 the son of William a farmer and Sarah Ann Mason (nee Cammack) once again coming from a large family with 8 siblings Alice 1885, John 1887, Charlotte 1888, Thomas 1890 ,Charles Cammack 1896, Herbert 1898, Arther Ernest 1904, Ada Ann 1905 the family lived at Haxey Road,Misterton

His father William was born in 1863 at Misterton, his mother Sarah Ann Cammack was born in 1863 at Upton, Lincolnshire, they were married on 7th June 1883 at All Saints Church, Misterton they had 12 children, sadly two were to die in infancy or early children,

In the 1911 census the family are living at White House, Haxey Gate Road, Misterton, William 48 yrs is a farmer, he is living with his wife Sarah Ann 48 yrs and 6 of their children including Albert 12 years of age.

Military history

Private AlbertMason was called up and enlisted into the Army at East Retford on 21st March 1916 giving his address as White House, Haxey Road, Misterton, giving his age as 18 yrs and 9 months, he was a farm labourer, his next of kin was his father William of the same address. He finally went to the front in March 1918 .six moths later on 29th September 1918 he was killed in action. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot memorial in the Tyne Cot Cemetery, Belgium
