John Talbot (junior) was born in Dunham on Trent in 1899 he was the son of John Talbot (senior) a labourer on the flood banks and Drusilla Talbot née Thompson he had three siblings and they lived at Dunham On Trent,
His father John Talbot (senior) was born in 1861 at Dunham his mother Drusilla Thompson was born in 1863 at Newton On Trent, they were married on 16th February 1885 at St Oswald, Dunham on Trent, they went on to have 6 children, sadly two died in infancy or early childhood.
In the 1911 census we find the family living in Dunham on Trent, John Talbot (senior) 50 yrs is a labourer on the flood banks, he is living with his wife Drusilla 46 yrs and their children Arthur Edwin 13 yrs, John 11 yrs and Mable Alice 8 yrs of age.
Soldiers of the Great War records John as being born in Dunham on Trent, it states he enlisted at Retford and served with the 8th battalion King's Own Lancashire Regiment his service number was 41148 and that he died of wounds on 28th September 1918. he is buried in Grevillers British Cemetery France.

Pte John Talbot, Kings Own Royal Lancs Regt was killed in action in France on September 28th last, which was the first anniversary of his joining the Army. He was the second son of Mr and Mrs John Talbot, Dunham on Trent. He had only been in France 20 weeks and was 19 years of age. Before joining the Colours he was employed in the gardens at Rampton Manor, the residence of Sir Charles and Lady Ellis. The deceased was a member of the Bible Class conducted by the Rev T E S Ferris, Darlton, curate.
