Family history

Lawrence William Oldershaw was born in 1889 the son of Isaac a painter and builder and Mary Ann Oldershaw née Saville and the brother of Lily, Edith and Freida Oldershaw of Warren House 2 Edward Road Stapleford Nottinghamshire.

His father Isaac was born in 1856 at Stapleford, Mary Ann Saville was born in 1855 at Thackstead, Essex, married on 13th October 1877 at St Helens Church, Stapleford, they had 7 children,sadly 1 was to die in infancy or early childhood.

In the 1911 census the family were living at 2 Edward Street, Stapleford, Isaac 52 yrs is a painter, he is living with his wife Mary Ann 56 yrs and their children, Lily 27 yrs working in the lace trade, Lawrence William 22 yrs a fireman, Edith 23 yrs working in the lace trade andFreida 5 yrs of age.

Military history

Private Lawrence William Oldershaw enlisted at Nottingham, he initially served with the service number 12413 with the Northumberland Fusiliers, he was killed in action on 22nd April 1917 and is buried at Duisans British Cemetery, Etrun, Pas de Calais, France.
