Leek's next of kin and sole legatee was his aunt Mary J Cooper of 120 Walnut Street Ayleston Road Leicester.
Military History
Private Joseph Leek attested at Nottingham 29th November 1915 standing 5' 8" and weighing 140 lbs. Giving his age as 22 yrs and 3 months and his occupation as railway waggon repairer. Mobilised on 8th December 1916 and posted with the service number 68191 to the Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was transferred to the Machine Gun Corps on 2nd March 1917 . He embarked from Folkstone on 25th April 1917 landing the same day at Boulogne. He was killed in action on 23rd October 1917 and was buried at Dochy Farm New British Cemetery, Belgium.
