Family history

John William Leslie Keeley was born in 1899 at Sandiacre he was the son of John William a hairdresser and Amy Keeley née Loader and the brother of George Henry Keeley of 178 Derby Road Stapleford Nottinghamshire.

His father John William was born in 1874 at Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, his mother Amy Loader was born in 1874 at Haselmere, Surrey, they were married in 1898 at Nottingham, they had a further son George Henry.

In the 1901 census the family are living at 46 Station Road, Sandiacre, John William Keeley 27 yrs is a hairdresser, he is living with his wife Amy 27 yrs and their son John W.L. 1 year old.

Military history

Private John William Leslie Keeley enlisted at Ilkeston, he served with the 6th/7th Gordon Highlanders Regiment, he was killed in action on 25th October 1918, he is buried at Denain Community Cemetery, France.
