Arthur Langley was born on 14th June 1896 at Kimberley the son of Thomas a coal miner and Fanny Langley, née Bishop.
Arthur Langley snr was born in 1864 in Kimberley Fanny Bishop in 1857 at Tutsbury, Staffordshire. Married in 1890, they had 4 children, 2 surviving infancy - Thomas William b.1895 and Arthur b.1896.
In 1911, they lived at 31, Noel Street, Kimberley. Thomas 47 yrs is a coal miner he is living with his wife Annie 54 yrs , Thomas 16 yrs worked in a coal mine, Arthur 15 yrs is a coal miner.
Arthur Langley enlisted at Nottingham he served with the Royal Field Artillery and first entered a theatre of war on 1st April 1915 in Egypt. He died in the Military Hospital at Lichfield on 23rd October 1918. His body was returned for burial at St Patrick's churchyard, Nuthall.
