Victor William Beardsmore was born in 1898.
In 1911, he lived with his grandparents William and Mary Beardsmore and their two coal miner sons Percy and Lewis.
In the 1911 census the family are living at Watnall Road, Nutthall, William 67 yrs is a jobbing gardener, he is living with his wife Mary 62 yrs a housewife, they are living with their sons Percy 23 yrs a coal getter hewer and Lewis 21 yrs a coal miner (haulage) and their grandson, Victor William Beardmore 13 yrs a coal miner pony driver.
Victor William Beardsmore enlisted at Nottingham and was killed in action on 28th November 1917 in Egypt . He is commemorated on the Jerusalem Memorial.
In memoriam published 28th November 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :-
“BEARDSMORE. – In loving memory of Pte. Victor William Beardsmore, aged 20, who gave his life for his country November 28th, 1917. Gone but not forgotten.”
