Wilfrid Rogers was born on 10th February 1894 at Bramcote, he was the son of William a coal miner hewer and Eliza Rogers née Pendleton and the brother of Maud Matilda, Ernest, Cicely Ann, Julia Mary and William Frederick Rogers.
His father William was born in 1856 at Wollaton, Nottingham, his mother Eliza Ann Pendleton was born in 18159 at Bramcote, they were married on 27th March 1884 at St Michaels Church, Bramcote, they went on to have 9 children, sadly two were to die in infancy or early childhood.
In 1911, they lived at 26, Denison Street, Beeston, William 55 yrs is a coal miner hewer, he is living with his wife Eliza Ann 52 yrs and their children, Maud Matilda 22 yrs a finisher, Ernest 19 yrs a clerk, Cicely Ann 18 yrs a polisher, Wilfrid 17 yrs a gardener, Julia Mary 15 yrs a winder and William Frederick 9 yrs a scholar.
The family later lived at 32,Montague Street, Beeston, Nottingham.
Private Wilfrid Rogers enlisted at Nottingham he served with the 2nd battalion Grenadier Guards, he landed in France on 28th July 1915 and was killed in action on 11th October 1915, he is buried at St Mary's A.D.S Cemetery, Haisings, France Grace Reference: 9.D.2
