Family history

George Alfred Dean was born in 1892 at Lenton he was the son of James a lace maker and Ann Dean née Fowler and the brother of Clara and Lilian Dean née Fowler of Grove Road, Lenton.

His father James was born in 1860 at Lenton, his mther Ann Fowler was born in 1861 Heanor they were married in 1882 at Nottingham, they went on to have 6 children.

In 1911 census the family lived at 39 Grove Road Lenton Nottingham James 51 yrs a lace hand is living with his wife Ann 50 yrs they are living with their children Clara 25 yrs a lace hand, Lillian 18 yrs a costumier and George Alfred 13 yrs a scholar.

Military history

Private George Alfred Dean enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the1st battalion King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, he was killed in action on 24th May 1915, he is buried in Bedford House Cemetery.
