He was the son of Joseph Henry and Ellen Brown and the Brother of Frances Mary, Ellen and Ann Brown.
In 1911 they lived at 29, Imperial Road, Beeston, Nottingham.
Served previously with the 12th (Pioneer) Battalion), Sherwood Foresters, Notts. & Derby Regiment as both a Private and Sergeant.
Listed as : Admitted to hospital with : Admission Number : 6392 : Contact of case of Cerebrospinal Meningitis on the 28th April 1916.
Discharged back to duty on the 30th April 1916 whilst serving with the 10th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters, Notts. & Derby Regiment, Machine gun Section, 17th Division.
Admitted again as a Lance Corporal with the same Battalion on the 13th July 1916 with Inflammation of connective tissue of the face, transferred to Number 39 Casualty Clearing station on the 14th July 1916.
died : Killed In Action : France & Flanders : 21st March 1918, aged 24, by this time serving with the 2nd/5th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters, Notts. & Derby Regiment.
Listed : As missing on War Office daily Casualty List Number : 5573 dated : 23rd May 1918 (over 2 months after his death).
