Harry (Henry)Watson was born on 16th March 1882 at Awsworth he was the son of the late Thomas a butcher and the late Elizabeth Watson nee Hall of Awsworth, Nottingham.
His father Thomas William was born in 1851 at Awsworth, he died on 24th November 1901 aged 50 yrs, his mother Elizabeth Hall was born in 1852 in Lancashire, she died 18 March 1887 aged 33 years, A sister, Alice, died in Chicago on 18 April 1909 aged 24 years.
They were married on 4th May 1875 at St Marys Chrch, Greasley, they went on to have 7 children.
In the 1911 census Harry Watson was a boarder, he is 32 yrs of age and a pork butcher, he is boarding at 5 Hogarth Street, Carlton Road, Nottingham, he is boarding with William James Walker 51 yrs a pork butcher.
Private Harry Watson enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 1st battalion Lancashire Regiment, he died of wounds on 27th August 1915 at Gallipoli and his name is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Gallipoli
Family gravestone, St Peter's churchyard, Awsworth: 'Elizabeth, the beloved wife of Thomas Watson, who died March 18th 1887 aged 33 years. Thy will be done. Also of the above named Thomas W Watson who died Novr 24th 1901 aged 49 years. Also of Alice Watson who died in Chicago April 18th 1909 aged 24 years. And of Pte Harry Watson, who died of wounds received in Gallipoli Aug 27th 1915 aged 35 years.'
