He was the son of Mrs. F. Allchorne. Cecil Thomas Allchorne and Ida LM Graves were married at Nottingham in 1944. They were to have two chidren - Raymond and Pauline - and lived at Carrington.

Though built in the United States, the Luling operated in support of Allied campaigns in the Indian Ocean and Southeast Asia. The tanker was deployed to the British naval base at Trincomalee, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka).
From there, she was tasked with moving forward into the Malacca Straits to support the planned Allied invasion. To defend against axis submarines and aircraft, the ship carried (DEMS) gunners.
On April 27, 1945, 19-year-old British Able Seaman Cecil Thomas Allchorne was lost overboard and missing presumed killed (MPK) while serving on the Luling.
