He was the son of John Edward and Dora Alice Overton and the brother of Phyllis, Eric and Edward Overton. In 1921 and 1939, they lived at Station Cottages, North Clifton, Newark, Nottinghamshire. Jack Overton and Ruby May Warrener were married in 1941. Ruby later lived at Lincoln.
