Cedric Williamson was educated at Retford Boys' National School and the Sir Frederick Milner School, and later was employed as a butcher by the Co-operative Society. A well-known athlete, he belonged to the Sherwood sports Club and played table tennis for the Town.

Family history

He was the son of George and Doris Williamson; husband of Jane Emily Renee Williamson, of Leicester.

A former Retford boy, Williamson used to live in West Furlong.

Military history

A bomb aimer, he was at the time in a plane towing gliders.

He left Retford in 1939, and joined up in June, 1940.

Before going on operations, he was for two years a bomb aimer instructor.
