21 March 1944 Soldato Natale Parrella Italian POW, Caunton POW Camp struck by an Army Dodge van driven by Captain George Wakefield of the Royal Artillery. Natale cycling with a group of Italian POWs failed to stop at the junction of Norwell Lane and The Great North Road at Cromwell and collided with the van at 8.30am. He passed away later that afternoon at Newark General Hospital. Originally buried at Grantham Cemetery, Sec 1, Row M, grave 15 25/3/1944. Re interred Brookwood Military Cemetery, Plot 16, Row O, grave 19.
Incorrect date of birth given on headstone, date should be January 1913 not 1923.
