Lancaster I ED550 took off 2033 23 Aug 1943 from Langar. Crashed 2359 at Nieuw Dordrecht (Drenthe) 8 km SE of Emmen Holland. Six fatalities: GW Osmer (P), CP Backlog (N), WME Reid (W/Op), JW Standish (AB), TEC McKeith (AG),D Fells (AG). Julian George Walker (FE) survived wounded as a pow.

727 aircraft attacked Berlin 23/8/43, 12 from Langar departing between 20.15 and 20.43. For unknown reasons, ED550 turned back and crashed at Nieuw-Dodrecht in northern Holland with only one survivor.
