Turin

295 Lancasters from 1,5 & 8 Groups attacked Turin on this operation. 792 civilians were killed and 914 injured. Thirteen aircraft were lost returning from Milan, most shot down by enemy night fighters during a low level trip over the Brest peninsular. However, Lancaster I ED412 from Langar strayed into Swiss air space on the way home and was shot down by Swiss flak. It crashed into Mount Le Grammont above the village of Le Bouveret.

No survivors. Fatalities: H Badge (P), R Wood (FE), AC Jepps (N), D Scragg (W/Op), AC Wright (AB), ROC Brett (AG), JT Lloyd (AG).
